2 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced
2 cups diced cooked ham
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: fresh chives or parsley for garnish
Preheat Oven: to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Make Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Cook until thickened, then stir in cheddar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
