1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 lb beef stew meat, cubed
1 large onion, chopped
1 (1 oz) packet dry mushroom gravy mix
1 cup water
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt & pepper to taste
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 egg
1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Brown beef cubes on all sides.
Add chopped onion and sauté until softened.
Stir in dry gravy mix, 1 cup water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
Pour mixture into a baking dish or pie dish.
Lay thawed puff pastry over the top, pressing edges to seal.
Beat the egg with 1 tbsp water and brush over the pastry.
Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and puffy.
Let rest a few minutes before serving.
